Hammer Problem

Hello everyone.
Firstly, I don't know if this is the right place to post, but whatever.

I recently tried to make a map for dystopia, so I've set up Hammer the way the wiki sais. Now the problem is that when I create a new map the various screens are all black, without the grid lines at all, making it impossible to create any brushes, add entities etc.
When I open another map the everything shows up normal and I can work on the map. But after I work on it for a minute or two, the screens turn black again.

Note : I got a new pc and I think that has something to do with it, since I didn't have this problem with my old one.

Help please!

This doesn't sound like anything we can help you with here. It sounds like a video card compatibility issue with the SDK or something like that and not specific to Dystopia modding. I would suggest posting on and searching at the Source SDK forum. This guy here looks like he's gone through a similar issue as you are.

Sounds like a really annoying issue, Hope you are able to find a solution!

You're opening\running Dystopia in Source 2009 SDK, you need to make sure you use Source 2007 SDK.

And how do I change that? If I try to run the 07 version it sais there's no configuration to run it, because I seem not to have any game that uses that SDK.

You need to go to your: steam\steamapps\accountname\sourcesdk\bin\source2007\bin\GameConfig.txt

And add a configuration for Dystopia, if you go to the sourcesdk\bin\orangebox folder, just copy the info in the GameConfig.txt and change all 'orangebox' references to 'source2007'.

Oh nice catch fug, I didn't realize the source 2009 sdk had issues like this. I don't think I've even tried running it.

:P

I guess when Portal 2 comes, the 2009 supported mod tools will be released. Right now 2009 is pretty useless unless you're mapping for Ep2. Still there are some handy displacement sculpting tools in 2009. Also I heard that Valve are trying to simplify map making process and mod making in general with better tools/systems in the near future.
