Gameplay Demonstration Video

Postby Flux » Sat Oct 23, 2010 11:49 pm

Hey guys! After we posted our last video there were numerous lingering questions about what Blade Symphony is and how it plays. Will it be hack-and-slash? How is it different from other melee mods like PVK or Age of Chivalry?

What better way to show you than with an actual demonstration video!

Personally, I consider Blade Symphony a spiritual successor to Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast's duel sub-genre (and as I was browsing youtube I failed to find an adequate video to actually use as an example). It's not the same game, but we hope that a sword fighting culture could form in Blade Symphony, similar to what happened in that game:
... some players have taken the game beyond this level in the multiplayer mode, adapting rituals such as "bowing" (crouching and bowing one's head down before a duel). The one-on-one master/padawan training system from the films has been adopted by some clans.
If you like what you see, I urge you to upvote it on Reddit and participate in our forum.

This game looks really promising! What I loved about JKA and games like The Specialists mod for Hl1 (mainly the kungfu portion of it) was the openness to it. Like how you could walk around the map and chat with people. Then when you wanted you could go up to someone give a lil' bow, and start a duel. Will definitely stick around these forums and join the community you guys have got going on here. :D

Yeah, it immediately reminded me of Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, as i loved the duels there. The stances are similar, too, even though some other games have that too.

Anyways, i love the sound when you unleash a charged attack, and the shadow copies appearing for a second or so when charging with the fast stances. I hope you use it for some more stuff, like when moving really fast or so.
Lyta had a little Vorlon, her skin was pale as snow. And everywhere that Lyta went, the Vorlon was sure to go.

Ha no, there's not traditional FPS-style jumping. There are a lot of different type of dodges, jumps and maneuvers that you can do, but it's all pretty tightly developed without any loose ends.

But there WAS a time when you could ice-skate around on any ice/snow textures. And use inclines as ramps.

Actually you jump forward when you hit 'space' so technically you *can* bunnyhop..
Might be useful to run away from your enemy like a little bitch. ;)

Well that's not really how it works. Bunnyhopping is exploiting the movement system, whereas the jumping Cyanide is talking about is just repeatedly doing a dodge maneuver.

Coming back to this thread to watch the video and I notice your post may be directed at me... it was just a inside-jokey reference to an argument about leg boosters. I know how bunny hopping works.

I was just making sure that a Cy knew how bunny hopping worked, we could have used that in our Dystopia clan
