Introduce yourself here!

Postby HadouKen24 » Sat Feb 19, 2005 2:23 pm

It seems like half the new threads lately have been by new people posting their intros here to the boards. I just thought it would be a good idea to have a thread dedicated to letting new people let us know they're here. If you've just registered, post here first and tell use who you are! Welcome! :)

And hey, if you've been here a while, feel free to post here for the benefit of our newer members.

I'll start us off. I'm HadouKen24, a forum monkey and a Dystopia fanboy. I enjoy fragging people, getting headshots in CS:S, and trawling the web for new and exciting forums to spam with useless posts.

Well, I'm a fresh one around these parts. Dystopia was one of the first HL2 mods to catch my eye, mainly because it seemed like the only one that was actually making progress. ;) I figured I'd like to get involved in the community, so I signed up.

I spend my time fragging in HL2DM, producing my own music, and drinking (my favorite).

Seraph here. AKA Orion, ColdSilence, Case, FallenSeraph, etc etc etc. So many aliases, so little time... also member of DFC/

18 yr old college student, Network Security major, living in NYC.

Big cyberpunk fan for the last 8 years or so, though I don't know of any specific event which triggered it. I think it may have been an episode of the Outer Limits where the Internet spontaneously came into self awareness, but I'm not really sure. Never really got into it until I saw Serial Experiments Lain though.

I love video games and read quite a bit. I'm smart, but rather lazy. I can usually write complex code, but will always screw up by not ending it with a semicolon or something stupid like that. And then spending 5 hours trying to figure out what I screwed up.

Currently, I spend my spare time trying out a new railgun design theory with a friend of mine who's an Electrical engineering major. so yes, I am indeed a geek, lol.

BTW, I <3 your sig Enigma. Where's the background from?

Actually, that's not a bad idea. Mods, there has been a call for a sticky!

Story of my life. :) For me, it's not the semi-colons. It's those damn brackets. :(

i almost failed basic programming....so i have nothing to worry about i leaned more toward the constructing of models and rendering myself, havent done it in a whle but with some of the new source tools coming out i may get back into and make some alternative dystopia skins once the mod comes out for those of u who like to swithc it up, but y would u want to from the look of it the skins are awesoem already

Postby Lethy » Tue Feb 22, 2005 7:29 pm

Well here goes, while I'm not totally new here I've never introduced myself. I'm a 21 year old white male, dark brown hair, blue eyes. I like walks down the moonlit bea... Erhm.

Seriously now, I'm 21, just finished a Bach. of Technology at University and now poking around for full time work, my qualifications are in networking. Been gaming since yonks ago using my grandfather's Atari and Commodore 64, then my Sega Master System, the 486, then the Pentium 75MHz, Sega Mega Drive would come in here right about now, then up to the Pentium 350MHz, throw in a Playstation and a N64 in here, then up to my now old AMD 1700 and then up to my current AMD64 3500. I would probably call myself more a casual gamer then a competitive one, though I have been competitive in the clan scenario before and helped in organising and running tournaments as an admin in the past for AusNS which is believed to be the largest NS third party active community globally for NS. I'm currently a head admin over at OptusNet Games too.

Other then that, I'm a fairly laid back kind of person. Used to play Baseball, but now I don't, I never got back into it after having a season off for a break. I'm a fan of Rugby (Real rugby, not that silly league crud!), though don't play however I'm considering joining a team next season. I can't think of anything else to write.

People seem to get me confused with a 'Lethys' from BF1942 a bit, although I am 99% sure I was Lethy before! :p

hey guys, im a 20 yr old MechEng student from Perth.

Been playing games sinces ages ago, not just PC but consoles too. Only started MP gaming recently on a trip to visit my older bro. spent most of the week there playing BF and DC and then had withdrawal for days afterwards.

Really like sci-fi, not just cyberpunk stuff and I think this mod has cratefuls of potential. (those would be half-life style crates of course)

Hello guys and girls!!

Making use of the sensible introduction post to hold back the tide of threads :)

First and foremost my name's Peter, i'm a Director of APGN, and formally the Public Relations/HR Manager (my online handle is Sykotic). (hello!!)
I've been following Dystopia for quite a while now when Greg (DieKittay) first brought the game to my attention, and I must say, you guys have done an extraordinary job- I bet you are all going through some very exciting times and reaping the rewards of your work at this stage!

A little about myself, i'm a 19 year old Commerce/Law student at Monash Uni in Victoria. I've been with APG for about 4 -5 years now (damn how time flies) managing the servers for nearly all that time. Can't wait to see how Dystopia plays in game :)

I'm a pretty avid forum junky, so my only regret was that I haven't been able to get on here sooner!! Look forward to watching this gem unravel into what will assuredly be nothing short of amazing :)

Well just dropped in after I this mod's link on the source mod top 100. I am a huge cyberpunk fan and was exicited when I read the short description. I lurk more than I post, but I have been trying to be more pro-active in the source mod communities. I have some experiance with hammer and have hacked together a few models (very poorly might I add) but havn't messed with anything on source yet.
Fiction and Reality are but in the eye of the beholder.

Hello newcomers. You've picked a great mod with Dystopia for sure.. : P .. And I've been pestering and bugging these guys for every little tidbit of info that I can so I know quite a bit about the mod already myself.. Me and Ronin both.. : P .. Ronin even got the first Dystopia Clan started which I'm a member of. So as you can see, we have a fantastic community here which you guys are now a part of. Welcome.

Yes please do.. For the better of the forum community at large..: P ... I can understand though. Even I made a new post all my own when I first joined.. It happens.. But there was no 'introduction' thread sticky because I WAS looking for one.. So it probabaly would be prudent to sticky this one or make a new one and sticky it.. SOMETHING.. : P
